Face reading (面相, Mian Xiang) is the traditional Chinese art of understanding character and fortune from facial features. It observes the shape, position, and quality of facial features to infer personality tendencies and life patterns.
Traditional face reading divides the face into three horizontal zones: Upper (Heaven) zone from hairline to eyebrows, representing early life and intellectual capacity; Middle (Human) zone from eyebrows to nose tip, representing middle age and social relationships; Lower (Earth) zone from nose tip to chin, representing late life and basic life foundations.
Balance between features matters more than individual size. Large features in balance suggest outward expression; small features in balance suggest inward orientation. Asymmetry can indicate developmental factors or life adaptation patterns.
Skin quality reflects internal health and life energy. Clear, lustrous skin generally suggests good circulation and vitality. Dull or uneven complexion may indicate underlying imbalances or life stress. These observations complement rather than replace medical assessment.
Face reading provides personality tendencies and life pattern observations. It should be presented as self-reflection rather than judgment. Understanding facial tendencies can support personal growth and relationship awareness without becoming a limiting label.
